Anterior segment consequences of blunt ocular injury.
The anterior segments of 212 eyes (205 patients) were evaluated one to 14 years after contusional eye injuries. Anterior chamber angle recession was the commonest complication, occurring in 153 of 190 eyes examined (80.5%). However, only one patient developed ocular hypertension. Iris abnormalities were found in 37.3% of eye injured, the most common abnormalities being marginal tears and pupill...

Purpose. To evaluate the use of ocular imaging to enhance management and diagnosis of war-related anterior segment ocular injuries. Methods. This study was a prospective observational case series from an ongoing IRB-approved combat ocular trauma tracking study. Subjects with anterior segment ocular injury were imaged, when possible, using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT), ...
متن کاملAnterior Segment Complications in Ocular Contusion
Ocular traumas are the leading cause of preventable vision loss in children and adults. The incidence of eye injuries varies between countries. In a previous study that was made by McGwin et al. in 2005, it was found that the number of ocular injuries in United States annually is approximately 2 million, with 40 thousand resulting in permanent vision loss [1]. Many studies have investigated ope...
متن کاملHeterogeneity in dominant anterior segment malformations.
Peters' anomaly is usually a sporadic or autosomal recessive condition. We present three families whose members had dominantly inherited anterior segment anomalies with variable expression, including typical Peters' anomaly in at least one family member. Slit-lamp examination of parents and family members of children with Peters' anomaly is therefore important to exclude dominant inheritance.
